Shujat Ali founded this society in December 2022 to create a dedicated space for serious philosophical reading, discussion, and reflection. The initial vision was to cultivate a community committed to slow reading, critical dialogue, and sustained engagement with philosophical texts.
In its early phase, the society functioned as a small reading group, bringing together individuals interested in philosophy, literature, and critical thought. Despite changes in membership due to professional and personal commitments, the society continued its activities in a modest and focused manner, maintaining continuity through regular discussions and intellectual exchange.
Over time, the society evolved into a platform where members not only engaged with selected philosophical texts but also shared their ongoing research interests and reflections on literature and cinema. The emphasis has remained on thoughtful conversation, interpretive depth, and collective learning rather than formal academic performance.
The society continues to exist as an open intellectual space, guided by the belief that philosophy is a living practice sustained through dialogue, reading, and reflective engagement with the world.
